Re: Accepting...then rejecting.

You are correct. Also just signing a letter of intent is not enough to make a binding, legal contract. It is exactly that, a non-binding letter of an intention to sign a binding contract at a later date. Neither that nor an oral communication of acceptance is binding legally as is a signed contract.

Re: IB Training? The International Baccalaureate (IB)

Thanks Briz. But would I be hired for an IB school to get the training in the first place without any initial IB training? There's the issue. It seems like IB schools prefer IB trained and experienced teachers over those who have never even taken at least one IB course.

Might it be worth the expense to take a few IB courses on your own to make yourself more marketable or not worth the expense?

Re: IB Training? The International Baccalaureate (IB)

http://www.ibo.org/

I see the workshops on the IB site but the online ones are $600 each. Also, as Mr. C4ke says, would schools even consider this IB experience if I did complete the Category 1 cert?

Thanks for feedback.

IB Training? The International Baccalaureate (IB)

Hi, I was trying to get some IB experience to make myself more marketable. I've done some research via Google and looked on a few IB sites but all I saw were some expensive workshops. Are there any good online courses to take to become International Baccalaureate (IB) trained?

Seems like it would be worthwhile as many schools seem to want teachers qualified to teach IB classes. My expertise would be History/Social Studies.

Thanks!

Re: Phuket: PIADS, British Int, School, or Quality Schools I

vettievette: Try putting QSI or Quality Schools International in the search box and let me know what you come up with as I only see pages of non QSI related topics when I do. EDIT: I looked on forum 2 and there are a lot more answers there.

Why is PIADS and British Int better?

Phuket: PIADS, British Int, School, or Quality Schools Int?

Hi again all,

Asked this more broadly about Thailand in general but now I want to get more detailed info.

First off is QSI. What is Quality School International's reputation as they have many schools around the world? How is their Phuket branch?

Also I've read here that PIADS is good. Any info on them as well as the British Int school?

I think Phuket would be an amazing place to live! Thanks.

Re: Thailand Schools

Thanks for info and have looked into PIADS as well.

Can't find any ISR reviews of any of the Phuket schools aside from the British school though. How is PIADS and QSI rated?

Re: Regents school Pattaya

Mr. Cake seems like a real expert on Thailand so I figured I would ask him some more q's!

How's teaching in BKK compared to Pattaya or Phuket? I've been to only BKK and Phuket so know the differences between the non-beach and beach lifestyles of the places but what is the quality of life like overall? THanks

Re: Thailand Schools

Thanks for the advice.

I think we would net 150,000 baht total with my wife so how would we live in Phuket on that then? Seems like it would be an ok lifestyle.

What is PIADS? Also what's been going on in Phuket regarding problems? I've looked up crime and seems to be less than what we have in the United States but definitely a worry.

Thanks again for the writing and of the assistance.

Thailand Schools

Hi, I've done searches for some of the schools in Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket.

Wanted to know how would I live with a wife and child in these places on 130,000 Baht a month? Especially thinking of Phuket.

Plus can someone give a quick rundown of the best schools on Phuket - would they be BIS or Quality Schools International?

Thanks!
