Re: Future of International Schools due to...
I won't even consider schools in those areas. No amount of money is worth the years of your life.

Re: Should we do the fair?
Without a doubt do the fair.
My associate wouldn't even give me an invite to the fair ("only for the most qualified candidates... blah blah blah") I wanted to go to, but I got an offer to attend with three weeks to go.
At the fair were three "Tier 1" schools I had all emailed, but none had bothered to respond. At the fair I had interviews with all three, and got two offers.
Face to face still matters

A bird in the hand is worth...?
No doubt this has come up before, but here is my situation:
On the table is a good offer from a good school in a place I want to be.
But I just interviewed with school that I'd only DREAMED of getting a job at, but they are still a ways out from making a decision.
Thoughts/Advice are welcome.

Re: Career Advice
Thank you both for your replies.
To answer your question, I am not admin qualified, but would earn that certification.
Psyguy, it sounds like your saying IB experience would lead to better opportunities down the road if I wanted to get into a Tier 1 school?

Career Advice
Looking for advice. In my first International Job at a good school in Latin America and loving it. I have a few opportunities being presented to me by my school.
1.) Get into IB, specifically IB economics.
2.) Get into admin, maybe as an AP, or instructional coach.
What would people recommend? I really love the whole IS scene and want to spend the next few years seeing the world. I can see myself spending a few years here, then I would like to shoot for one of those "Tier 1" jobs in SE Asia or Europe.
Thanks in advance.

I have a girlfriend... but not a wife. Should I say single?
This is my first time seeking International School employment. I'm registered for UNI and TIE Online, and have been applying to schools individually.
I have a long term girlfriend. She is planning on coming with me (assuming I get a job). But I've been telling schools I'm single with no dependents. Not sure how to approach it?
Say I'm single? Just get married!? Tell schools she's coming? Just have her fly in later and join me?
Any advice here would be appreciated.
Also, is it unreasonable to shoot for a tier II school? I have a masters, have taught 7 years in the states, and coach + other extracurriculars.
