Dalian

The staff from that school seem very happy and committed to staying on long term, which seems like a good sign. It's far out from the city and the living quarters, while very nice, are not exactly handy as they are far from any type of public transport. You would be limited to taxis if you were living there. I hear the facilities are very nice and they frequently offer things to the expat community such as buffet dinners American style or turkey Thanksgivings, which are hard to find in Dalian. So overall, positive I think. I would say though that being isolated out far away from the suburbs and the city is great for some people and really hard for the rest. It depends what kind of person you are.

As someone who worked at this school for a couple of years and experienced both the previous director and the current one, I would say that overall living in Myanmar is not easy however the people there are wonderful and make the experience worth it. The school itself has several issues, not the least of which being that it is a new school that is still finding its feet. Teachers have been let go in the past very unfairly, some of it involving the previous director and some of it the board. Contracts have not always been honoured completely. Like any school that is starting out, it has issues. Whether or not those issues would bother you is another story.
