Hi,
My post was supposed to be an addition to the thread on "who's had interviews" I am a bit of a veteran teacher, and my interview was with one of the bigger schools in Europe. I had a two other interview requests with schools/locations that did not feel like a good fit, so I politely declined.
With all of this being said, many schools still have not posted openings, so there is not too much to worry about at this point. I am prepared to have to go to Bangkok.

I sent the letters of reference. One of the letters was from my director at my past school, so I already had the letter. The other was from my current principal.
Now here is the dumb thing; both of these individuals also wrote me confidential references on Search, so yea, it's redundant. I guess I could have sent in a letter from another administrator who didn't write me a confidential reference, but I didn't think of that.
This makes no sense to me either. I agree that the confidential one are the ones that should matter the most.

I've applied to four so far. I am in touch with the director at my top choice, but they've posted no jobs so far. @cherry-Did you hear anything from Warsaw? They have a lot of openings, but I received no response yet. I need to send more apps this weekend. I have gotten my previous jobs on Skype as well, but am also registered for Bangkok, and prepared to go.

I took the Intro to PYP course on line this summer, and am very glad I did. Though I do not work at a PYP school, I am recruiting this year and thought it would be a good idea to get an overall idea of what it is all about, just in case I interview for positions using the PYP. I thought the course was good, the participants were helpful, the course load reasonable, and I learned a lot. I would recommend it.

Hagwons are centers where students go after school or on the weekends to learn or practice a variety of skills. Their 'teachers' do not have to be certified, and are often recent college grads from North America. I work in Korea and many of my students go to Hagwons. A lot of it is 'kill and drill', though children can attend hagwons for just about everything; art, tennis, science, etc. I think they do more harm then good, but that is just my opinion. I have a lot of stressed out 3rd grade students who spend many hours in hagwons.

So I'm reading The poor Teacher and now I get it! I feel I was very naive about the hidden costs of actively managed funds before reading this book. My question is: can I transfer my money out of American Funds into Vanguard without paying some sort of cost? The book kind of leads me to believe that yes I can. I'm not ready to discuss thus yet with my financial advisor because it is very clear to me that I need to dump him so I'm asking here.
Singapore American School (is that top tier enough for you?) uses it and has even brought Columbia TC reps to run workshops there. It's a big emphasis. Not sure offhand of any schools in Europe using it but I'm not familiar with most European schools.
Yes, that is definitely top tier enough for me! :-) I know many amazing schools are going the way of RR/RW, and I am looking to add to the list. Thanks!

It was a typo. I meant 'housing allowance'. I have never heard of a salary allowance, so I have no idea why I wrote that twice! Weird.
I worked at ASB for 6 years. They did find me a place to live before I moved there, but all deposits and rents came out of my own paycheck. My friends who are still at ASB pay everything on there own.

I interviewed at a school in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria. The first question the director asked me was if I knew WHERE Las Palmas was located. I said yes, it is on the island of Gran Canaria. She said that she was just checking because the year before they hired a teacher who thought she accepted a job on mainland Spain, not an island off of Africa. I thought that was sort of random and funny.
