Can someone comment on schools and working in Azerbaijan? What is a good salary?

There was only a short interview. The school could only hire teachers with American working papers, and they could not sponsor a visa for a teacher with a French passport.

The New York school and I were unable to reach an agreement. Thank you, too all of you that responded.

Why Leave America

I recently received an invitation to interview with a school in New York City, the position offers a salary of $120,000 American dollars. Why would American teachers leave America when you have salaries that high? Is the attraction of living in a foreign country so strong that you would give up that amount of salary? It seems foolish with the potential of making so much money that anyone would leave.

Thank you, but working in Japan was not a motivating factor for me. The school director believed that working in Japan was the only motivation I or anyone needed. My research found that Psyguy's information was accurate and the salary offer was very close to an English language teaching position.

More information

Thank you all for your replies. The settling in allowance is a one time allowance paid on arrival in Japan.
There is no housing benefit at all, the school will not pay any deposits or agree to any type of guarantee with a property owner. They will only provide a letter verifying my employment and salary.

Thank you

The school has offered me 300,000Y salary and 150,000Y for a settling in allowance, they will also reimburse me 75%% of my one-way airfare. Is this a good offer based on my resume?

Thank you, they are asking me what my pay expectations are. What other benefits should I ask for, or would be typical especially for a living allowance?

Japan Salary

Hello, I am new to the forum and am graduating in June from a seven sisters college and have recently been offered an appointment with a school in Japan, my problem is I do not know what salary is good.

My background:

French National
Bachelor of Arts in French Cultural Studies.
Elementary school certification and secondary school certification in French to be awarded this summer.
I have only my student teaching experience.

I have found only a few postings regarding salary scales in China. The school in Japan that wishes to hire me has asked me how much salary I want, and do not know how to reply. The school is small with 300 students and is located in Kobe, Japan. How much should I ask for in salary and what other benefits should I ask for as well?

Thank you, one and all for your assistance.
