Re: Is it too late to begin?
I think that it can get harder once you age in certain countries with visa limits. However, there are countries where age is not as much a factor. I don't agree you would be competing with your wife, as you would not be going for the same grade levels most probably, and most primary schools would need several teachers at various grade levels. It just depends on how flexible you would be. Also, your PE background means you could try for primary, middle and high school roles in PE if you decide to go that route. This may give you more flexibility. For working parents if you choose a country with home help or child care options you will be fine. My husband and I both teach and having home help when the kids were younger was fantastic in terms of illness, I only missed a couple of days due to the kids being ill, mostly I just relied on the lovely helper. If teaching is your interest and passion then go for it. Thinking ahead, eventually your wife could teach and you could tutor, once you retire.

Re: Ghosted
Weirdest one I had was at a job fair. I got a pink/blue/green slip and this meant I could skip to the front of the queue to request my interview time. I had my husband with me who was linked on my profile etc. We are a teaching couple, I am a specialist and he is a general elementary teacher. When I asked if they were interested in interviewing both of us they looked surprised and then lamely said...oh yes, but we are booked with interviews today but we will get back to you with a time for tomorrow...and of course they never did. Guess they wanted me but not him for some reason but they weren't principled and didn't have any integrity to admit to me that they hadn't looked properly at my profile before writing the interview invitation. Wouldn't want to work for them anyway.

Re: Singapore Cost of Living and Salaries
I would say 10,000 is fine, so long as schooling is also covered. International schools here are something like 30-45,000 per year.

Re: Singapore Cost of Living and Salaries
Singapore currently has very strict travel restrictions in place so going to Malaysia for medical help would not be possible. I have worked in two schools here and have Cigna insurance. This is good coverage (excludes USA) and the medical care in Singapore is excellent. Singapore is a fantastic country to live in, but not cheap. Cars and taxes on cars are expensive, and eating and drinking out if you go to restaurants is just like any developed country in regards to cost. Alcohol is taxed and expensive. You can eat super cheaply if you go to the local hawker centres and wet markets. Bus and metro are cheap and reliable, (but can take a long time to get places) taxis are average. Schooling is a very high cost and if it isn't included in your package it would not be worth taking a contract without it, in my opinion. Good luck.

Re: How do you get to work?
School 1 owned a car, about 15 minute drive
School 2 taxi in the mornings, 10 minutes, school bus in the afternoon (free)
School 3 taxi to and from school 30 minute commute. Cars are very expensive here and the taxes etc. Public transport is good but would take a long time to get to work, over an hour and a half (2 buses and a metro)
At the weekends we take public transport everywhere as it is cheap, reliable and we are usually in no hurry to get anywhere.

Re: Take it or wait for a better one.
I would do as the first poster suggested, tell the second school you have an offer and request an earlier interview. Ask the first school to give you a bit longer to make a decision. The option Psyguy suggested is risky and unethical in my opinion.
