Questions about searching for 2016-2017

I have pretty much decided that the next school year will be my last at my current school. I would like to get a jump start on looking for 2016-2017. I was hoping to get some advice from more experienced international teachers on this board. I am currently in Latin America and will be completing my 4th year (11 years experience teaching overall). I am a single elementary teacher with no dependents and no IB experience. I would really like to end up somewhere in SE Asia...Bangkok would be my first choice but Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos would be great also. How much will the lack of IB experience hurt? I will be traveling in the region this summer. Would it be appropriate to email a resume in late May/early June and ask if any administrators would be interested in meeting with me while I am there (and if they are not on vacation)? I realize its way too early for them to know about any openings, but I thought perhaps I could at least meet them and express and interest in working at their school. I plan to register with ISS. My current position was obtained by applying directly to the school.

My area is elementary. I'm male, so sometimes that helps....but not really a high needs area.

Too late to start looking?

I had decided to return to my current school in Latin America, but now I'm having second thoughts. I realize I should have started the recruiting process months ago. Is it too late to get on board with one of the fairs. Should I just try Tie Online or stick it out at my current school one more year. If I leave I really have my goal set on somewhere on Asia.

I am interested in teaching somewhere in SE Asia after this upcoming school year. I'm currently in Latin America. The BKK Fair is not possible due to the timing and cost of getting there from here. What would be my next best fair option? What are the chances of getting a job in SE Asia without going to a fair?

I would like to be in Bangkok but definitely open to other countries in the area. If I need to explore other options in the region then shoot for Thailand at some point a few years down the road, that's fine. I'm not interested in ESL.

I am certified to teach Early Childhood - Grade 4. Most of my experience is in Grade 4, but I have also taught Kindergarten and Grade 3 in the past. It's not that I am set on Bangkok only, but I have spent time there in the past and enjoyed the city. I am open to other possibilities in the area. My main concern is trying to find something in the region without going to the Bangkok Fair. As another poster mentioned, it will be next to impossible for me to attend that fair while working in Latin America. The time and costs of getting there just aren't practical.

Thanks for the information. One poster mentioned possible looking into Vietnam. I hadn't really thought about that, but its seems interesting. Any recommendations for schools there that I should look into?

I am looking for a teaching position...not administrator. No, I don't have any IB experience yet.

Finding a job in SE Asia (particularly Bangkok)

Hello everyone! I have a few questions about finding employment in SE Asia (particularly Bangkok).

First, a little about my background....I have been teaching for 8 years, I have a Master's in School Administration, my first seven years were teaching in the states and I am currently in year one of a two year contract at an American school in Latin America.

I would like to start applying to schools in Bangkok next year (for the 2014-2015 school year). What are my chances of landing at a Tier 1 or 2 school? What about job fairs? Is a fair the best way to go? I was hired at my current job after applying directly to the school and completing a couple of Skype interviews. Would leaving my current school after the initial two year contract be looked at negatively, or should I stay here 3 or 4 years before trying to move on.

Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. I enjoy my current job but my dream destination has always been Bangkok....though I would also be interested in schools in Cambodia or Laos as well.
