Re: Riyadh schools
Shadowjack is spot on. I interviewed with this school a couple of years ago. They are a private Saudi school that provides American Curriculum in English. Its only been a few years that they have made the switch and they are doing it in segments so the last few years they have been hiring a lot of western educated (US, UK, & AUS) teachers. The school is run by a Prince who hired a big name head of school from Austria to run the show and do all the hiring.
Correct, they are not a part of ISLR.

Hi Hallm,
It seems that you did great last year, you must be a very good teacher and in high demand! Can you share the cites that made the offers, I know people that are in a similar situation and would like to know where to try?
Thanks!

I have just been offered a job by IAT girls campus Abu Dhabi. Anybody have any info for me regarding this school? I am hoping to move out there with my husband and two children.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Hi Rayhana
I have never heard about this school, was this through TeachAway?
With regards to the major matching the position, this was mentioned in one of the school presentations I attended. What the recruiter said is just what PsyGuy said - they'd hire you to teach x subject on paper, but in reality, you'd teach something else. It would be easier for them to find someone who meets the legal criteria, though, so maybe that adds an extra competitive factor (in that if you're not *perfect*, they won't go through the trouble).
Keep this in mind CoachM, if you can convince them that you're the best, they will do what it takes to get you.
You are right, I was told this at one of my interviews but the school did not have any position for my wife and they would not take me alone.

@3xlucky
Well I tried, the first school that I targeted was Kuwait. I ran into an issue that most could not look past. My degree is in Business Admin. with an option in computers. My teaching credential and teaching experience is in physical education. I was told the law is that you must teach the same subject as your original degree. The Ministry will not even look at the credential they only care about your degree.

@PsyGuy
This may be the only time that I agree with you, it is complete BS. I asked multiple Directors about this rule and they all agreed that its true.
@Guero
Before the fair we did not know about this but ran into it at interviews. It came up when one of the Kuwait schools mentioned it in their presentation. It sucks because it changes everything for my wife and I too.
