It seems each time I check my RMB salary against the USD equivalent, I lose more and more money.
In my last school, the school board readily agreed to a fixed USD monthly equivalent as currency exchange rates were also turbulent in that country.
Has anyone heard if any of the many Chinese international schools out there making any conscious effort to ease the RMB crisis for international teachers?

NIST, BKK
I've just been checking out their updated salary and benefit scale for SY2016/17 and it seems that the usually high rates of pay are no longer the case. From their SA file, it seems that their benefits are now subject to 20-25% tax and some of the additional benefits are removed also. I wonder if anyone on the ground can give some more insight into happenings at NIST.

Re: Angola situation
I recently applied for a position at LIS and am waiting on any kind of response.
Usually some automatic notification email is sent but not even this was sent by LIS to me.
I had thought that LIS maybe a school who places preference on hiring those found at a fair.
(This is the case with my school in Asia)
Does anyone out there have any info on the LIS hiring process?

Job Fair or not?
I have signed up to one of the upcoming job fairs and probably will attend.
Some of my teaching colleagues who originally intended on heading along have now decided against attending.
They seem to question their competitiveness at the fair and doubt a job could be got in their roles at one of the great schools.
I haven't seen many statistics about job fairs but wondered how many registered candidates usually back out of attending these events for one reason or another.
Anybody else out there questioning their upcoming attendance at the upcoming job fairs?

Re: Teach Now vs. Teacher Ready
@psyguy
Yes, you read my mind!
My objective is to teach at an overseas AS outside of the US which requires US teacher certification.
I appreciate all of the potential routes which you have mentioned and it is very helpful to see the easier routes written down.
As you have suggested, I attempted to apply for a standard license through Hawaii but am facing issue with the SSN requirement.
Is there any way around this?

Can you please tell me what options does a non-US citizen have regarding US teacher certification?
I already have an Irish teacher certification so don't need to go the Teach Now/Teacher Ready route.

Re: TCNJ - Certificate of Qualification (Non-US Citizen)
I am currently also attempting to get US teacher certification and am finding it difficult to obtain information on this forum just like you. I am Irish and have Irish teacher certification and teaching council recognition so do not need to obtain a formal teacher qualification. I am based internationally and am not looking to relocate to the US but would like to have any US state teacher certification in order to apply to certain international schools which require it. If anyone has any information on this process, I would greatly appreciate it! (Also, I don't have a SSN)

working in oil company schools
I just recently read about how Chevron have not been granted an extension to their present contract in Indonesia.
A school in Riau is directly connected to this company and I wonder what future lies in store for a school like this and other similar oil sponsored schools. Other teachers in the international field have mentioned similar stories of how their overseas employers have been reinstated with local representation and have consequently lost significant benefits etc.
Does anyone out there have any opinion on working in oil sponsored schools?
Here is the news article I read:
Indonesia's energy ministry will not renew Chevron Corp's oil contract at a small oilfield in Sumatra and will hand over management to state-owned oil firm Pertamina, industry officials said.
The transfer of the Siak oilfield, which produces around 4,000 barrels per day, is part of a government effort to curb foreign ownership and grab more revenue from its natural resources.
"While Chevron is disappointed that the production sharing contract for the Siak block will not be extended, the company respects the decision," the U.S. oil firm said in a statement.
Chevron's contract expired earlier this week.

ISS schools not attending Search Bangkok fair
Hi all,
Just wondering whether anyone could shed some light on what schools attend the ISS Bangkok fair and skip the Search Bangkok in place of later fairs?
I know that most IS's attend both but I'm keen to know which of these only attend the ISS Bangkok fair.
If anyone has any experience of both, I would be grateful to hear your views also.
Thanks!

I hadn't seen Bangkok as being an option for me.
It's refreshing to know that people do land land jobs there without IB experience. I had thought that I would have required more years experience to even get an invitation for that fair.
How many years of experience do you currently have Shadowjack?
I had been thinking of either going to London or Boston.
Boston seems to have more schools but I'm concerned that it's a little too late in the season.
I definitely couldn't afford to go to both and ideally I'd prefer to get something over Skype before the fairs.

best fair option
At the moment, I am trying to decide on which SA job fair representative suits my needs. I have 4 years IS experience teaching MS.
Last year I completed a IB MYP course.
I am unsure as to which fair would give me the best possibility of landing a job for next year.
