I'm having some problems with that last post, in that it kind of says to me that teachers should just be subordinates and not look into anything? Health Care, living conditions and community life are critical parts of one's sanity during their overseas experience. We've all read the reviews on ISR about nightmare schools where things aren't how they should be - we have to ask those questions if we are to be successful. I teach to live, not the other way around, and want to make sure I'll enjoy my time wherever I end up. Maybe this previous post is just a good Christmas laugh, but if there's any seriousness to it (and we should all just sign contracts without asking questions), then maybe the international scene isn't for me.

I'm looking to share a room at UNI. There is a school that has interviewed me and is close to offering me a job, so I have held off on getting a room or flight to the fair until I hear... they have now told me it will be until early January until they let me know!!! So now, all the affordable rooms at the Quality Inn and Ramada are gone! I still have a flight but if anyone is looking to share a room (either you have one or I'll get one of the remaining ones!), I am more than willing!

Thanks! My email is olebourdais@sd6.bc.ca

Shared Room at UNI?

I'm a 25 year old male looking to split a room at UNI. The Quality Inn across the street from the Job Fair has rooms left, but it would be much cheaper if I shared with someone! Please let me know!

I have been in contact with the American School of Guatemala and already had two interviews over the phone. Their website has lots of information and it seems like a good place, but I've heard that Guatemala City is big, polluted and a bit dangerous. This really is my main concern - any advice? Is it a nice place to live/teach? Thanks!
