Letters to the ISR Editor

| |
Dear ISR,
I think the power of this site comes through the directors knowing that we
as teachers now have something to work with. Hopefully, in the end,
ISR will help to provide more accountability on the part of the directors.
Thanks...
Well, all the teachers I know LOVE your web site. It s going to be successful
and everyone is using it as a resource. Great idea. Why didn't I think of
it?
Dear folks at ISR,
Thank you for actually doing what I am sure many of us out here on the international
school circuit have talked about. I have recently found a great international
teaching position after a couple of really woeful schools. It is great that
you are providing a service to international teachers that is truly Independent.
After all recruiters really act as agents for the international schools not
the teachers. Perhaps your site may have the effect of forcing the fourth
and fifth rate international schools out there to pull up their
socks a little if they wish to recruit teachers. Fantastic work!! This was
an early Christmas present for me. My past international schools are
already flying their flag of mediocrity on your web site. Thanks …
Dear ISR,
I love your concept and wish u the greatest of success......the overall quality
has been deteriorating at many of these international schools for
various reasons and this site is going to be an enormous help to those
who wish to get into the field. I hope to submit information from time
to time to help your site succeed in its goals. Regards…………
.........I tried to set up an an international school teachers association some time ago - and it fell apart! The idea was to set up a web site with objective evaluations of international schools - but somehow ensure that the people who submitted the evaluations were protected - and turn that into an international school teachers association. I still have things left over from the failed attempt to set up something similar 4 years ago like: 1. professional ethics for teachers ( includes rights as well as responsibilities). 2.. evaluation questions for schools. I know a huge number of people who are keen to do this as well and would be willing to help.....Well done !!!!!!
Dear International Schools Review,
….by the way, I REALLY think that this something that TV News such as 60
Minutes or 20/20 should investigate. I would love to see some solid investigative
reporting done on this topic of international schools. There are far too many international
schools that get away with unfair hiring practices as they are on not held
accountable. Have you thought of contacting journalists about this ? It really
should be exposed and I am sure that it would make for a very interesting journalistic
piece! I have been thinking about how we can make directors of these mainly American
international schools accountable for their actions. What do you think ?
Sincerely …..
Love the web site
and have been spreading the word. How about a search feature so you could
look up schools by key words? How about a region feature, so you could
select schools by region. The alphabetical school name listing is nice
but would be far more practical if it was country listing. If you're
new to the international teaching scene, you don't know the
names of the schools. It would save having to click on each entry to
see what's there. These are just suggestions for improvements, no offence
intended. You've provided a much needed resource for international teachers.
Thanks! Response: We like your ideas and made the changes, thanks
from ISR.
Love your web site Much needed by the teachers in the international school scene
As a teacher who is looking to teach overseas in international schools I
greatly value this web site I hope to see more schools added and perhaps
a message board. Thanks.
Hi there!
Just wanted to say thanks for creating this web site - it's about time somebody
did it. I've often sat with groups of teachers and discussed the need for
such a service. Hope this is a huge success. Will pass your address on
to others. Regards.
Dear International Schools Review
.......I have found that teachers in international schools have
no protection....i. e. our professional organizations. Most teacher are at
the mercy of the administration. The admin. know they have teachers over
a barrel...you do as i say or you can quit...and if you do.... no recommendations.
I have seen that many, many times..even when teacher work hard I have read
evaluations that were very unfair. Teaching abroad is a real gamble and most
people, like me, cherish the idea of living among the people. I sincerely
hope that your web site will encourage more teachers to tell the truth.....but
I am sure they are very fearful of sharing anything that could be traced.
Thank you for your time and the courage to begin this avenue....Sincerely..
