A Teaching Couple Fights Back

In September of 2007, Tony and Sandy (names have been changed) contacted ISR and related how they had been mistreated at the American School Foundation of Mexico City. Since that time, the couple have attempted to settle the situation through their lawyer, but so far an amenable conclusion has not been reached.

Feeling a deep commitment to their principles, the couple decided to follow the recruiting conference itinerary of ASF Mexico. Their purpose has been to talk with international teaching candidates considering a position at this Mexico City school. While Sandy stays home with their two young daughters, Tony has thus far canvassed the UNI conference and is now on his way to the upcoming Queens College conference in Ontario. From there he will visit the ISS conference soon to take place.

A letter from Tony at the close of the UNI conference

Dear Ben, Barbara and the ISR Staff,

Thank you for all of your support.

I think that things went very well in Iowa. I talked to a lot of people and I am unsure who did it but someone put my flyer (with ISR on the back) in different strategic places in the Hotel and the Convention Center. I also visited all of the hotels where the candidates were staying and the staff after hearing my story passed out the flyers (again with ISR on the back). Before I left, (standing outside in the cold) most of the people I talked to said they had seen the flyer.

As you know I will be heading to Kingston on Friday.
