Dear
International Community Members,
Hello. Thank you to the many of you that have offered your support. Thank you to those who have provided constructive criticism and sincere advice. This has been an exceedingly difficult time for my entire family but we are very grateful for all of the support we have received. First off, I would like to thank the staff from Queens College in Ontario for taking time to see me during an important event and on such short notice. Thank you. Yesterday, I learned that, "Dr. Cortés has decided, for personal and professional reasons" to leave ASF – Mexico City, effective the end of this year. If Dr. Cortes made this decision in the best interest of serving the entire ASF community, I commend him and I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors. I invite him to talk to me personally about our situation. Unfortunately, our situation has not been resolved. We still have not been approached by any representative of the school to explain why we were locked out or to apologize for the manner in which it was done. We are still "blackballed" and unable to even interview for jobs overseas, our chosen vocation before this all happened and the dream of our family. I still plan on attending the ISS fair in New York next week. In the best interest of the ASF community and especially the students, I will not pass out flyers. I truly want the students at ASF to have great teachers and the best education possible. As I did in Iowa and again in Ontario, I request and offer to meet with a representative of the school and staff at ISS or any third party. Specifically, I would like to meet with Paul Williams, who as head of international teacher recruitment at ASF has been, to my understanding, the principle liaison between ASF and the international hiring organizations. I still have grave concerns that what happened to my family was not an isolated incident (at ASF or in the International Community) and would welcome an open discussion in regard to how a similar event can be prevented in the future. Thank you! Sincerely, Tony |
