complaints by teachers at International School Yangon are a lack of resources (it can be hard
to get books and other resources into the country) and an unwillingness
on the part of the board of directors to invest money back
into the school.
Housing
is barely adequate. The majority of teachers live in apartments
in a hotel, and they are quite
small and lack real kitchens or comfortable furniture. The
housing stipend is not enough for teachers to afford to rent
a house, or to find another apartment unless they don't mind....
Another
drawback of International
School Yangon is
the relatively high turnover of teachers and administration.
The board needs to realize that it is better for the school
(and less expensive in the long run) for them to work on retaining
teachers they have. Improving housing and implementing third-year
signing bonuses would help, for example.
