Working
at North Jakarta International School was a
rewarding experience. There was a positive
sense of community, both with students, and
throughout the faculty and Indonesian staff.
Professional development and school and faculty
events, equally, were conducted with a sense
of camaraderie and good nature- the likes of
which are rare opportunities in working life.
The headmaster's support
for staff and students alike was palpable,
even in the face of pressure from persuasive
parents and a fiscally cautious board of directors.
Unfortunately, the sudden
passing of Allan "Buck" Forslund
in November, 2006, ushered away with it this
