interviewed with Mr. Bedford. He never
asked me a word about my
approach to teaching. We actually talked
about everything except teaching. This
did seem odd to me
as I had
come prepared with examples of lessons,
photos and parent recommendations. Mr.
Bedford seemed uninterested and I concluded
he
figured I was a professional with a successful
history and did not need to prove myself.
The video presentation of the school was,
however, so outstanding
that I took the job which was offered to me at
the close of the first "interview".
After
the interview
I
was given the contract at the conference
and a check for $6200 to cover visas, air
travel and shipping. He did not have a
school handbook and I later found much
of what he promised
was
contradicted in the school handbook. Most
important, is that from the time I arrived
in Kinshasa I knew I
had
been lied to at the conference. Nothing
was as Mr. Bedford represented it. I
later became so disenchanted with him and
the country that I broke the contract and
left at the end of the first year. He
blackballed me at ISS and they supported
him.

should have gone with my first impressions.
I recommend avoiding this person for the
sake of your career and professional dignity.
